In brief
At least two companies have actively explored locating data centers in Desert Hot Springs. Given the unanswered questions, the City Council was right to impose a moratorium.
Data centers can consume enormous amounts of water and electricity. We need to understand how these demands would affect our resources, infrastructure, utility costs, and residents.
Any proposal with such far-reaching consequences must be carefully studied, publicly discussed, and fully understood. This is not a decision that should be rushed.
After considering the potential costs and risks, my position is clear: Data centers are not the right move for Desert Hot Springs. I do not support bringing them into our city.
