In brief
Desert Hot Springs police officers serve our city with an approachable, community minded presence that deserves our support. I appreciate the officers who show up, listen, and care about the people they protect.
Supporting our Police Department means providing the staffing and resources officers need to respond, build relationships, and do their jobs safely. I support responsibly increasing the number of police officers as our city grows.
Residents deserve facts, not slogans. The official FBI UCR annual city data show that Desert Hot Springs did not have the lowest combined reported violent and property crime rate in the Coachella Valley in 2022, 2023, or 2024. The claim that Desert Hot Springs has the valley’s lowest crime rate is false.
Supporting our police means setting them up to succeed and measuring what matters: emergency response times, case clearance rates, patrol coverage, officer retention, training, and community trust. The City should publish these results regularly, set clear improvement goals, and track progress over time.
When officers have the staffing, equipment, training, and leadership they need, they can respond faster, investigate more effectively, and build stronger relationships with residents. We should stand behind the men and women who protect our community while holding City Hall accountable for delivering measurable improvements in public safety.
My goal is clear: work with our police and our community to make Desert Hot Springs the safest city in the Coachella Valley and, ultimately, one of the safest communities in California.
