Our community pushed back, and City Hall felt the pressure. Property owners, renters, community organizers, and neighbors challenged the rental inspection ordinance. Council has now tabled the fees. Together, your voices made a real difference.
They voted first. Now they’re asking what it costs. The city’s own study estimates $447,308 in annual registration staffing costs, with fees recovering just 29%. Subsidizing this program with General Fund dollars is fiscally irresponsible.
We deserve leaders who listen before voting and protect our General Fund. The ordinance still needs formal repeal. Keep the pressure on. I’m Edward Boumendil, running for City Council, District 1. Our community deserves better.
